Recently, I did some search on buying baby wipes in Singapore. Here are my findings:
Two of my three friends told me to buy them in Baby Fair. Based on the most popular recommendation, I decided to make trip to Baby Fair at Expo. I found that Guardian had a big booth selling diapers, wipes etc. They had scheme on wipes which were costing $2 for pack of 3*30 i.e. 90 wipes. I found out that the big pack contains 90 sheets and comes in bundle of 3 packs, hence total 270 sheets together. I had bought few packs but they soon ran out and that was a learning. This time idea was to buy more so that stock does not run out quickly. Again the analysis happended and here are the findings. Only restriction was Johnson Baby Wipes as my wife did not want it owing to its
foul sell, rest most brands seemed good.
Store | Pack | Price | Brand |
Baby Fair | 3*90 | 6 | Guardian |
Guardian Online | 3*90 | 5.1 | Guardian |
Red Mart | 3*90 | 8.8 | Kodomo |
Fair Price Online | 3*90 | 6.68* | Fairprice |
Qoo10 | 3*90 | 7.35 | Lucky Baby |
This table was picked up based on availability and cheapest wipes. Clear winner is Guardian, wipes are made in Malaysia and are of very good quality.
*Fairprice had a pack of 200 sheets, price has been interpolated

Today, I came across job advertisement in
Freshersworld.com about Civil Engineer recrutiment.
Salary : 350000 - 425000 Rs Per Year
Because of decent salary quoted for freshers, for a moment I thought I will recommend it to few students. However, I decided to check the company and what I saw seems fishy, very fishy. Here are my pointers on why I thought so:
1.
It says Civil Engineer however it
further in ad says
- B.tech / BBA/ B.com/ Fresher/UG
- Any Undergraduate/Graduate/Post Graduate
2. Website
carlsonresearch.in does not give professional feeling of big multi country
research organization.
3. http://www.carlsonresearch.in/carrer.html
Carlson Research Career section on website has misspelling;
would a multinational company do such mistake?
4. Contact
Section states offices all across the world BUT without any contact number?
I decided to cross check Singapore address as I stay in Singapore;
address is residential and does not belong to any office.
5. Our
Team gives names of 4 professionals which have been quoted with high experience
but I could not find single article online about them, no LinkedIn profile as
well.
In fact no employee could be found on LinkedIn.
In fact no employee could be found on LinkedIn.
6.
Domain name: carlsonresearch.in
was registered on 25 Jan, 2016 however their website claim " With services launched in 2009". Were they
operating without website since 2009, isn’t it fishy for a multinational
company?
Domain is registered under
3dwebers.com which is IT company. Would big organization register their domain
name under somebody else?
7.
Click on case study takes to login
screen, where I tried to enter credentials (of course wrong) but it did not say
wrong credentials and took me back to same screen. Can they afford to have such
lousy system for international clients?
It looks scam to take money from students who are
looking for job. I may be completely wrong but please use your judgment while
dealing with them. For claim of World's fastest growing Research and Telecommunication Company, all above do not go in hand. I am sending the same article to Cyber Cell for further
investigation.

Placement season is always marked with lot of uncertainties.
This article is an attempt to better prepare and emerge as winner. Various
students classify companies according to pay which is important, however how to
target them with systematic approach is lacking in 99.99% students. I have
tried to classify companies in 4 quadrants.

Experience - When you want to go for dream companies, go for the kill.
Example: One of my friend studied in Tier 4 Engineering College however he got
selected in Best IT giant in US. How he could achieve this giant feat?
i) He joined their Campus Ambassador Program
to gain experience internally and was first to know about opportunities. Also
he demonstrated his expertise by helping them in various communities.
ii) He started
his own startup with technologies promoted by his dream
company (IT giant) and started selling his own softwares which
were innovative and got good experience.
Internship
- Whatever comes on air, sells! Luck is when you at right place at right time.
Find internship opportunities in the company you want to work for eventually. Increasingly,
companies are taking internship route to fill full time openings.
Competitions - Companies sponsor lot of inter college competitions especially big ones, make sure you participate and win. It is natural way to making a genuine candidature.
Competitions - Companies sponsor lot of inter college competitions especially big ones, make sure you participate and win. It is natural way to making a genuine candidature.
Example: One of my friend's friend came from average MBA college of Gujarat
however he participated in Corporate sponsored competition at FMS, Delhi and
went onto win it. He then approached the corporate for interview and won best
placement that anyone could think in his campus.
Ready Projects - Prepare a report on how your new, fresh idea can change a company's approach. Prepare well.
Ready Projects - Prepare a report on how your new, fresh idea can change a company's approach. Prepare well.
Example: I prepared for Bloomberg which is private organization however I was
able to create Global Revenue and P&L statement through various online
sources which was well recognized. I had given my views on Bloomberg India TV already and had been featured in newspaper for community work. I also leveraged previous experience to give
idea of future project which had potential to impact Bloomberg globally and
here I am still working for them for almost 5 years across Mumbai, Singapore.
