Microsoft Office 2010 to be launched on May 12, 2010

Microsoft Office is the most sophisticated productivity suite on the market and is designed to give your people the best productivity experience, help IT be more efficient, and add business value. By choosing Microsoft Office, you’re equipping your business with a dependable set of tools that will help add value to your business, enhance your IT strategy, and strategically support your business today and in the future.

Well now that Microsoft has announced the date of launch of its MSDN blog, the wait seems to be bit longer. Microsoft Office 2010 is certainly next big thing, taking directly on Google Docs as online office will be now available.

As per Microsoft, Openoffice.org doesn't stand upto new Office offerings, look at what they have to say:

"Don’t compromise. In comparison, OpenOffice.org offers a limited set of productivity tools that don’t deliver the full range of features your users need for the best productivity experience. In addition, OpenOffice.org lacks the required interoperability, infrastructure, tools, and architecture. So, you risk additional IT complexity that may lead to hidden costs that can negate any license savings."

I tested the beta and certainly feel that it is best Office available till now. Do share your views on the same.

Yahoo Publisher Network shattered

Yahoo has announced to stop its Publisher Network which was in beta phase. It is believed that it could not get good reponse and its attempt to imitate Google Ad Network has failed.

But the story does not end there, there is a Bollywood twist here as well. Yahoo is suggesting Chitika for its publishers. Though Yahoo! refrained itself from commenting about the reasons, it only said that after an "extensive review" it decided it will shut the program down on April 30.

Is it really a surprise?
Well think again, after its tie-up with Microsoft to farm out its search, the company can make money and concentrate more on partnerships. Yahoo has also posted a blog item on the closing of the Publisher Network, which says:

Dear Publisher,
Yahoo! continuously evaluates and prioritizes our products and services, in alignment with business goals and our continued commitment to deliver the best consumer and advertiser experiences. After conducting an extensive review of the Yahoo! Publisher Network beta program, we have decided to close the program effective April 30, 2010. We expect to deliver final publisher payments for the month ending April 30, 2010 to publishers no later than May 31, 2010. All publishers eligible for 1099s for the 2010 tax year will have those mailed by January 31, 2011.
Because our content will no longer be delivered to your ad unit spaces after April 30, 2010, we recommend removing all YPN ad code from your pages by that date.
For the opportunity to continue earning revenue, we suggest using Chitika, a leading advertising network that syndicates Yahoo! Content Match and Sponsored Search ads. Chitika has set up a special process for YPNO beta publishers to participate in its platform. Click here for more information.
We thank you for your participation in the Yahoo! Publisher Network beta. If you have any questions regarding this announcement, please contact our Support Team at (866) 785-2636, Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. PDT.

Sincerely,
Your Partners at Yahoo!

Wow.....What an end to the program which some analysts believed could give tough time to Google. Neways it would interesting to see Chitika rising up against innovator Google.
